The operations manager is responsible for all manufacturing & logistics activities from harvest through shipment to clients. This role will be directly accountable for driving operational effectiveness in planning, production, logistics, and occupational health and safety. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and have a demonstrated track record of managing people, process, and equipment in a manufacturing setting.

Accountabilities

  • Manage manufacturing and logistics portfolio , including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.

  • Lead planning, scheduling, procurement, and logistics.

  • On-time and on-cost delivery of product from harvest through shipment to customers.

  • Manage and control inventory levels of both product and supplies.

  • Ensure that production activities and finished product are compliant with both internal and regulatory standards.

  • Develop and document procedures.

  • Partner with quality assurance to identify and correct process gaps effectively and swiftly.

  • Develop, measure, monitor, and communicate operational KPIs for communication to senior management.

  • Manage departmental budgets and provide performance reporting as required.

  • Foster a continuous improvement culture and make recommendations on changes to team structure, process, and equipment.

  • Ensure process/equipment safety and adherence to all established and regulated OHS procedures.

  • Lead safety culture through a demonstrated commitment to OHS and membership on the joint occupational health & safety committee.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or related discipline.

  • 5-10 Years of experience managing productivity, efficiency & process improvement in a manufacturing setting (preferably GMP or pharmaceutical).

  • 3-5 years direct management experience including hiring and performance management.

  • Experience managing planning, procurement, and logistics.

  • Previous experience managing manufacturing equipment lines.

  • Experience with small package pick/pack and order fulfillment an asset.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems an asset.
  • Experience authoring and reviewing technical documentation & SOPs.

  • Familiarity with batch record and pharmaceutical processing requirements.

Broken Coast is a federally licensed producer of cannabis under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), located in Duncan, BC.

Reporting to the controller, the staff accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting and day-to-day financial transactions. Key accountabilities will include month-end reconciliations, account analysis, maintenance of the general ledger, AR/AP, and assistance with payroll.  The successful applicant will be a multi-tasker, attentive to detail and have strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Tracking, completion, and posting of day-to day financial transactions, receivables/payables, and payroll
  • Completion of required financial transactions with vendors and financial institutions
  • Maintenance of all electronic and manual payroll records
  • Completion of journal entries and preparation of account reconciliations
  • Analysis of account information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information
  • Preparation of monthly and annual accounting records
  • Preparation of provincial and federal related tax returns

Reporting to the lead growers, this role will directly support plant production activities and help ensure timely and quality delivery of product.

The IT Support Technician will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and deployment of hardware, software, and security infrastructure at BCC. Central to the role will be the accountability of ensuring that all IT infrastructure and systems are maintained such that interruptions to the business are minimized and all regulatory requirements are satisfied.

 Responsibilities

•             Ensure that BCC’s IT systems are functioning optimally to support business needs and activities

•             Maintain and manage internal IT assets, including networking, software, and issued hardware resources

•             Make recommendations on improvements to software, infrastructure, and hardware

Reporting to the master grower, as lead grower you will be responsible for ensuring all work related to your assigned coverage area is completed in a timely fashion, meets all scheduling timelines, and adheres to all internal and regulatory standards. This role will work directly with the Master Grower to ensure that the schedule is maintained and that all issues critical to crop production are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.

This role will be responsible for every plant in their assigned coverage area, from clone to harvest through curing the final product. Critical success factors for this role include attention to detail, the ability to respond rapidly to changing crop needs, and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

Scheduling & Crop Management 

  • In conjunction with other lead growers, ensure that the plants required to maintain scheduled production are healthy and available.
  • Monitor the schedule daily to ensure that both plants and allocated resources are managed to meet requirements.
  • Cooperate with other lead growers and advise the team of any issues that are noticed anywhere in the facility.
  • Schedule and manage the assistant growers, ensuring that all work done by the team follows standard operating procedures and is executed to a high standard.
  • Make recommendations to the Master Grower regarding plant assignments and creation of mothers.

Systems & Equipment 

  • Ensure all control functions are working correctly and set to the correct state for all crops in the assigned area.
  • Populate the week’s work from the master schedule and coordinate daily tasks, ensuring standards for completion are met.
  • Ensure all feed requirements are met and monitored.
  • Ensure all equipment in assigned areas are calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment in assigned areas section are functioning and set correctly.

 Other Accountabilities 

  • Train, Coach, and provide feedback to assistant growers, including direct participation in performance management.
  • Ensure that all work completed in the department is carried out in accordance with all internal and regulated OHS requirements, correcting any deficiencies that arise.
  • Work closely with quality assurance to discuss & resolve any issues encountered.
  • Maintain functional knowledge of the current pest monitoring and control regime and ensure monitoring, trap placement, and treatment are carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures. 
  • Ensure that controlled plant/product inventory in the assigned section is correct, documented, and properly stored & maintained.
  • Make recommendations to the Master Grower regarding process improvements and changes.
  • Ensure adequate supply stock by monitoring inventory and triggering orders at when re-order points are met.
  • Ensure that all transactions for controlled inventory, including documentation and electronic records, are recorded properly and accurately.
  • Ensure timely submission of documentation and swift resolution of any inventory or labeling errors.

Requirements & Experience

  • 3-5 years of operational experience with plant cultivation
  • Ability to obtain ACMPR security clearance
  • Previous experience with hydroponics will be considered a strong asset.
  • Previous experience in other horticultural setting will be considered an asset.
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in horticulture or cannabis cultivation an asset.
  • Previous experience working with GMP and quality systems an asset.
  • Ability to coordinate & supervise other staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude an asset.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with previous hydroponics experience.
